About The Vineyard

The small vineyard source for the Goosecross Cellars Syrah is located just north of the city of Napa and provides ideal warm days, cool nights and rocky soil conditions – where the terroir resembles growing conditions of the Rhone Valley.

Winemaker Notes

Syrah is gaining in popularity and has grown from a little under 400 acres planted in California in the early 1990’s to over 20,000 acres today. As it is one of the more vigorous vines, Syrah requires extra attention in the vineyard with farmers being aggressive in thinning the crop, to reduce crop volume but increase fruit quality.

This wine was aged 14 months in French oak, 40% new.

About the Winery
Goosecross Cellars
A quintessential boutique winery with its beginnings in the 1970s, the next chapter of Napa Valley's Goosecross Cellars – named for the pair of geese that made the estate their home – is now being written by CEO and Vintner, Christi Coors Ficeli. Exactly how does a gal from one of America’s foremost beer families end up making wine in Napa Valley? Simply put, Christi and her husband actually met while working at a winery (Gallo). They decided one day they wanted to live in Napa Valley full time, raise a family and be a part of the community with which they fell in love. And they did just that!
