About The Vineyard
The Evina Vineyard is located in Contra Costa County, about an hour southwest of Napa in a warmer subregion mitigated by the cool breezes of the Sacramento River Delta watershed. Tom Morgan was lucky enough to get suitcase clones of Verdelho brought from Madeira by the local Portugese immigrants over 20 years ago. He farms the vineyard organically, almost entirely by himself.
Soil: sorrento loam. Well drained alluvial fans.

‘After harvesting and tasting the dlicious Grenache (with a bit of Syrah and Mourvedre) for the Rosé, James had a crazy idea: what if we fermented some Verdelho juice on the delicious red skins we just pressed? The Red Herring was born and we treated it like a red wine from that point on, punchdowns and all.’ – James and Lorenza Allen

James, an inquisitive American exploring foreign lands, and Lorenza, a daring Italian, crossed paths and kindled their love during their winemaking studies in France. Now, years later, happily married, the couple boasts a collective total of four winemaking degrees and a combined work history spanning sixteen wineries across eight diverse countries. Having satisfied their wanderlust while traversing the world’s renowned vineyards, they made the decision to establish themselves in the charming, sun-kissed realm of Napa Valley. Their fervor lies in the realm of regenerative farming, and they are dedicated to restoring three petite vineyards – two nestled in Saint Helena and one in Calistoga. Additionally, they passionately procure grapes from exceptional vineyards and the inspiring grape growers throughout Northern California.
