Winemaker Notes

“The black goose is back and better than ever! Our most fruit-forward wine, the 2017 edition of this powerhouse evokes memories of sharing rich blackberry pie around a festive table with loved ones. Careful deployment of new French oak reveal baking spices, star anise, and nutmeg. Allowing Branta’s supple black fruit linger on the palate causes the lucky taster to wonder if they might be reminded of a brûléed caramel drizzle over a mixed berry crumble. Luckily, as with all of our wines, a balanced hand in the winemaking provides more than enough tannic structure and acidic brightness to keep its decadence in check.” – Christi Coors Ficeli, Vintner

Aged 25 months in French oak, 20% new

About the Winery
Goosecross Cellars
A quintessential boutique winery with its beginnings in the 1970s, the next chapter of Napa Valley's Goosecross Cellars – named for the pair of geese that made the estate their home – is now being written by CEO and Vintner, Christi Coors Ficeli. Exactly how does a gal from one of America’s foremost beer families end up making wine in Napa Valley? Simply put, Christi and her husband actually met while working at a winery (Gallo). They decided one day they wanted to live in Napa Valley full time, raise a family and be a part of the community with which they fell in love. And they did just that!
