Gallaway Vineyard
About The Vineyard

“I’ve been friends with grape grower Brian Gallaway, almost as long as I’ve lived in Sonoma County. Brian’s ranch is located just outside the town of Healdsburg on West Dry Creek Road; the grapes are grown on an eastern facing hillside vineyard along the western slope of the Dry Creek Valley, producing a distinctive wine, rich with warm berry flavors” –Winemaker Jon Phillips

Winemaker Notes

“This vintage is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in French barrels, 30% of which were new. Because of the investment in newer French Oak for our Cabernet program, the quality of the barrels being used is showing in the finished wine, with greater complexity and notes of mocha, vanilla and spice. You’ll find concentrated berry flavors of cassis, blackberry and tea, ending in a long finish. As a result of longer aging in barrel, our Cab has smooth, long tannins allowing you to enjoy now or lay down for more aging.” –Winemaker Jon Phillips

Aged 40 months in French oak, 30% new

Winemaker: Jon Phillips

About the Winemaker

Jon Phillips’ says that his passion for wine is likely in his blood, as he grandparents owned California vineyards in the early 1900’s. His love of wine grew through his time working at a tasting room, teaching wine appreciation classes and taking courses through UC Davis Extension in Enology and Viticulture. Making wine in his garage for friends and family since 1999, Jon followed his dream, purchased 6 acres in the Russian River Valley and launched Inspiration Vineyards in 2002. Jon’s small batch wines have earned many accolades, and he also offers winemaking services in the region.
About the Winery
Inspiration Vineyards
Born from a dream and a mid-life career change, Inspiration Vineyards was created in 2002. Jon Phillips’ passion for wine, however, dates back much further to his grandparents who made wine in the early 1900’s. For years, Jon was determined to break into the wine business by working weekends in tasting rooms, teaching wine classes and ultimately enrolling in a class at UC Davis in Enology and Viticulture.
