WINEMAKER NOTES

“In 2017 I was fortunate enough to be introduced to grape grower George Weiler. Since then, we’ve become good friends and have spent time traveling in Europe together and enjoying some great food and wines. When he offered up some Merlot to work with, I jumped at the chance! You’ll find this luscious merlot full of cassis and ripe blackberry, with notes of vanilla, ending with a long finish.Enjoy now or lay down for more aging” –Winemaker Jon Phillips

Aged 13 months in 25% new French oak

Winemaker: Jon Phillips

About the Winemaker

Jon Phillips’ says that his passion for wine is likely in his blood, as he grandparents owned California vineyards in the early 1900’s. His love of wine grew through his time working at a tasting room, teaching wine appreciation classes and taking courses through UC Davis Extension in Enology and Viticulture. Making wine in his garage for friends and family since 1999, Jon followed his dream, purchased 6 acres in the Russian River Valley and launched Inspiration Vineyards in 2002. Jon’s small batch wines have earned many accolades, and he also offers winemaking services in the region.
About the Winery
Inspiration Vineyards
Born from a dream and a mid-life career change, Inspiration Vineyards was created in 2002. Jon Phillips’ passion for wine, however, dates back much further to his grandparents who made wine in the early 1900’s. For years, Jon was determined to break into the wine business by working weekends in tasting rooms, teaching wine classes and ultimately enrolling in a class at UC Davis in Enology and Viticulture.
