THE WINE: 2012 Carneros Pinot Noir
A gorgeous, nuanced wine with beautifully integrated layers of ample, ripe fruit and elegant structure. Crafted from hand-selected rows in the Back Block of our estate vineyard, it offers effusive and mouth watering red fruit aromatics with raspberry bramble, rose and ripe pomegranate. Finely grained, silky tannins are nicely balanced with a bright, luminescent core.
WINEMAKING
Guiding every step of the winemaking process at Attune, our winemaker Kenneth Juhasz is focused on making lush, balanced wines, and finding the harmony between power and elegance, structure and finesse. For the 2012 vintage, we destemmed all the berries and then cold soaked them for a week with native yeast. We performed four punch downs per day during fermentation, allowed 10 days of extended maceration, and utilized only the free fun juice for the final wine.
VINEYARD
Working with Andrew Avellar of Carneros Vineyard Management, we sustainably farm 8.5 acres of prime soil in the heart of Sonoma County’s Carneros appellation. The vineyard is divided into four distinct blocks, each planted to two field-blended clones of Pinot including 667 and 115, from the Côte d’Or. Clone 667 gives us beautiful acidity, great structure, small clusters, intense color and a long finish, while clone 115 helps us achieve elegance and incredible aromatics.
Happy Holidays! You’ll find the 2012 Carneros Pinot Noir from Attune Wines on www.cellarangels.com throughout December 2015 and may share proceeds from each sale with your favorite cause.
