Before founding Cafaro Cellars in 1986, Joe Cafaro enjoyed an impressive winemaking history which included Chappellet, Keenan, Acacia, Robert Sinskey, and Dalla Valle wineries. Since 1985 he has also been a consultant to several small Napa Valley wineries. Now he tends his own wine.
With a vineyard location just south of the Stag’s Leap Appellation, Cafaro Cellars’ wines have the advantage of rocky and shallow hillside soils which naturally curtail the vines’ yields. The wines from these low yielding vineyards are concentrated, richly colored, strong in body, firmly tannic and are also elegant and multi-layered. Cafaro wines deliver so much more than their price reflects, making them an enormous value opportunity.
