Sometimes when you buy the vineyard, you inherit the sheep!
The story of Inherit the Sheep began at the Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley, where Clay Gregory first met Tersilla in 1990. With a mutual love for wine and wine country, the married couple decided to explore a place that offered enough land where they could plant a small vineyard. In 2000, their dream became reality when they discovered the Inherit the Sheep property, located in the Coombsville AVA of Napa Valley. When they accepted the offer, Tersilla said, “We’ll call it Inherit The Sheep, because we’ll never inherit anything else in our lives!”
Their small vineyard in Coombsville – Napa’s most recently established sub-appellation and the coolest climate in Napa where one can grow Cabernet Sauvignon to full ripeness – is planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon and a few rows of Cabernet Franc. All in, the Inherit The Sheep property is a whopping 1.8 acres! Hand harvested and hand sorted, their small production Cabernets are always bottled without filtration to preserve the natural flavor, character and texture in the bottle.
Inspired by one of Robert Mondavi’s famous quotes, “Like what you drink and drink what you like,” Clay and Tersilla love their Inherit The Sheep vineyard and hope you’ll take this opportunity to try a bottle or two to raise funds for great causes!
