Stein Family approaches winemaking differently than most folks, believing they can use wine to provide a future for their twins as well as looking after other people’s kids, too. Interested in creating long-term sustainability and not short-term profits, Stein has invested time into grower relations and selecting distinctive vineyards from people who care about what they grow, pick, bottle and sell. Stein Family specializes in hunting for overlooked varietals and vineyards, making wines they like to drink and hoping others will like them as well.
In the past, Stein Family Wines has donated to educational organizations and helped provide scholarships for the students of Napa Valley so the children of vineyard workers may have opportunities their parents did not. At the core of Stein’s philosophy is the belief in doing what’s right for all families involved in the creation of their fine wines. Changing the wine business one person, one bottle, one glass at a time: wine made the right way… because fair is fair.
Winemaker Josh Stein moved to Napa Valley when his wife was offered a job at a local college. In a chance meeting at a local winery, Josh was offered a job in a tasting room where he began his career in wine. After years of apprenticing and classes at University of California-Davis, Josh became an assistant winemaker & brand manager.
Now a winemaker in his own right, Josh is able to run his winery based on his moral principles—fair compensation for all employees, sustainable farming practices and giving back to the community. A winemaker after Cellar Angels’ own heart!
About Stein Family Wines Philanthropic Practices:
The team at Stein Family Wines is passionate in the belief that putting good out into the world promotes a more positive future for us all. Philanthropy and producing excellent wine go hand in hand for this socially responsible winery. The Stein Family “believes in dreams for our family and for yours, and because you also have to stand for things that matter to you, we want our kids to see that hard work pays off, that you can follow your heart and make a future for your family, and that you can do so in a way that avoids doing harm to others whenever possible.
A portion of the sale of our wine has been donated to educational organizations to provide college scholarships for the students of the Napa Valley so that the children of wine workers may have choices their parents did not. We believe in doing what’s right—for our family, for your family, and for the families of unseen workers who were instrumental in the creation of this wine. The Stein family thanks you for your contribution to an improved future for all of our children. When we drink this wine, we toast to a more equitable future for all”.
