As the current winemaker for David Arthur Vineyards and Montagna, Nile Zacherle has had wine in his blood from the start. He grew up making homemade wine by helping his father stomp grapes at age nine. Niles received his degree in Fermentation Science with a concentration in enology, viticulture and brewing sciences from the University of California-Davis where he originally enrolled to study beer fermentation. However, during his time in college wine captured his attention and led him to move abroad to study the winemaking process. He traveled and worked at wineries in Western Australia and Bordeaux, France. When he returned to California he took the position of winemaker at the famed Chateau Montelena in California. These invaluable experiences have given him an incredible wealth of knowledge that allows him to make world class wines today.
